Come learn what AI really is and how will it impact you now, and in the future. The Nittany AI Alliance will present an introductory overview of AI, followed by a panel of industry and Penn State experts who will discuss current trends and the impact of AI on the world of business as we know it. This event is co-sponsored by the Nittany AI Alliance and the Nittany Lion Consulting Group.

Travis Brady is the Director of Data Science at Shopify, and a Penn State alum. In his own words, Travis is “relentlessly curious [about] Data Science and Applied Machine Learning” and is a “leader focused on building teams and systems that solve real problems” with a “strong interest in real partnership to build the best experiences in whole page optimization/contextual bandits, recommender systems, search relevance and ranking, language understanding, traffic acquisition and many others.” He is “motivated to build things of real practical use and objective quality by maximizing collaboration, learning and the judicious use of Occam’s Razor.” Travis has “significant experience solving business problems via applied machine learning techniques,” specifically using techniques of “classification, regression, ranking (learning to rank), recommender systems, named-entity recognition, density estimation, visualization, model interpretation, forecasting and more.”

Elena Eneva is a Senior Principal AI Researcher at Accenture Technology Labs, “where she works on cutting-edge AI solutions applied across multiple high-impact domains, including Anti Human Trafficking, Intelligent Compliance, and explainable and equitable AI. She has over 15 years of experience in machine learning, data science, and AI across business, technical, and R&D groups. Elena is particularly passionate about applying data science to social good domains. In the summer of 2013 Elena helped start the Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) Summer Fellowship at the University of Chicago. As a technical mentor, she led several teams of fellows, and developed open source solutions for healthcare and disaster relief. In 2018 Elena returned to the University of Chicago to lead the entire DSSG program there as DSSG’s Director. She continues to be involved with the fellowship program and is working towards creating a DSSG program in the Bay Area, where she is based. Besides sciencing with data, she is passionate about social good in general, and works with community organizations involved in education, the arts, and the environment.”

Ravi Krishnamurthy, Senior Director of Product Management, AI Platform, ServiceNow

Ravi Krishnamurthy is the Senior Director of Product Management, AI Platform at ServiceNow, and has over 20 years of experience in applied artificial intelligence and data science. In his role at ServiceNow, Ravi has “the privilege of operationalizing AI across our platform and solutions, and helping realize a future where technology eliminates drudgery and human potential and creativity are unleashed.” Prior to ServiceNow, Ravi held several roles at LucidWorks, and also “built [an] early-stage social venture into a global NGO” called LibForAll Foundation where he “served as expert presenter and advisor to US & EU” governments as well as the United Nations on the topics of countering global extremism. He has also generated “17 patents in video analysis and computer vision, underpinning multiple licensing revenue streams, products and spin-offs.” 

Siyuan Liu, Assistant Professor, Smeal College of Business, Penn StateHeadshot of Siyuan Li

Smeal College of BusinessSiyuan Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University. His expertise is in big data for business intelligence, new technology for digital economy, data mining, and behavior models. Siyuan received his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and an additional Ph.D. from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has published over 60 scholarly articles and is teaching courses in business analytics and business intelligence.
